![]() iMovie will then open in the new library. To check it out, open iMovie while holding down the Option key and, in the box that appears, select to create a new library - only create it on your Mac, not your external drive. There might be some corruption on it that is causing your issue. Does iMovie quit? Freeze? Does the share go part way before failing? Does it fail with all projects?Ī common denominator through all of the updates likely is your iMovie library. You didn't mention what exactly happens when the share fails. I need the projects that are on this user account. Opening in a different account is not an option. I have been using this drive successfully to store the files and projects for several years, and another drive before that. Yes, the external drive is formatted correctly. Adobe Premiere would be learning a new interface, buying into the Adobe ecosystem witch I would rather not do, and does solve my immediate problem - I cannot reliably export videos for iMovie. Apple Final Cut would allow importing my iMovie projects and files, but will be a waste of time and money if this issue continues. But if I cannot resolve this issue I may have no choice. I would like to continue using iMovie and rather not switch to Apple Final Cut or Adobe Premiere. ![]() I should explain - I have been using Macs since 1987, and iMovie since it first came out. ![]() iMovie is the only application on this Mac that fails to operate correctly, and it only fails in this one, and obviously important function - I cannot export a video either as a file or to YouTube. I have tried it several times, and aside from my Macs taking forever and a day to boot into Safe Mode there is no change. In my experience, Safe Mode does nothing whatsoever. ![]() The export indicator - increasing slice of a pie - does not change. I can perform other functions - import media, create a new project, etc. IMovie does not quit or freeze, it simply fails to export the video. ![]()
